WHAT
The Triangle Science Festival is a grass-roots initiative to raise awareness among the public about the role of science in our everyday lives and important science issues. The Festival will achieve this by celebrating the individuals, businesses and institutions that make the Triangle such a great place to do science.

A longer term objective of the Festival, the first of its kind in our region, is to raise the Triangle’s profile nationwide by showing that our region is a national leader not only in cutting-edge research but in bringing that research to market.

A multifaceted, multicultural event, the Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun! Join us for a fabulous week celebrating all aspects of Triangle science and engineering through inspiring lectures, hands-on activities and exhibits, contests, theatre, comedy, poetry, art and music.

WHERE
The Triangle Science Festival is open to all, but we are focusing on the three counties in the Piedmont of North Carolina, including Wake, Orange and Durham. The largest cities in the area are Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. The hub is Research Triangle Park, base of operations for numerous Fortune 1000 companies but also energetic start-ups, often spun off from research at the area’s colleges and universities, government labs, and industry research centers.

WHEN
The Triangle Science Festival events will take place during a (hopefully sunny!) week during Spring 2011. Of course, we think we should celebrate science in the Triangle year-round, but we had to start somewhere!

The Triangle Science Festival is a grass-roots community initiative. Our success depends on you! Please get involved by participating. Here’s what you can do:

Host an event

Host an event — Anyone can schedule and organize any science-related event. The only requirement is that it is free and open to the public (aside from standard admission fees). You can fill out an online form to register your event. (Go to triscifest.org/Submit event). Once you are registered, we will contact you to confirm. Registering your event enables us to put your event on the formal schedule and promote your information via Twitter, Facebook, and our newsletter.

Sponsor Triangle Science Festival

Sponsor TSF — Organizations or individuals are invited to support science in the Triangle region by sponsoring the Triangle Science Festival. Funds will go to promoting the Festival locally in mass media, online and through viral messaging. Your organization will be featured prominently on all promotional materials. Volunteer

Volunteer — Please help us with organizing Triangle Science Festival. The scope of the event will need the time and attention of talented professionals who can volunteer their time. It is a grassroots event that relies on individuals like you for help. No envelope-stuffing required! Exhibit at Expo

Exhibit at Expo — The culmination of the Festival will be an Expo fair for all participants to demonstrate their organization’s support for science. The Expo will allow exhibitors the opportunity to connect directly with the public.
